Old-Time Buffalo Stew

Ingredients:

Local 2 lbs. buffalo stew meat
2 tbsp. shortening
1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
Local 1 clove garlic
Local 1 medium onion, chopped
Local 1 or 2 bay leaves
1 tbsp. salt
Fair Trade 1 tbsp. sugar
Dash of allspice (or cloves)
Local 6 carrots, chopped
Local 4 potatoes, chopped
Local 3 tbsp. flour

Directions:

Brown stew meat in hot shortening.

Add 2 c. water, spices and onion. Cover and simmer for 1-1/2 hours.

Add vegetables and cook for 30-40 minutes or until vegetables are tender.

Blend flour with flour for thickening agent and stir into stew mixture. Cook a few minutes till thickened.
