Sustainable Living
"One of the most important resources that a garden makes available
for use, is the gardener's own body. A garden gives the body the dignity of working in its own support.
It is a way of rejoining the human race."
~ Wendell Berry

On Septemer 25, 2010, a group of individuals will be attending BUF's
"Simple Sisters" Local Harvest Dinner. BUF's first simplicity circle, meeting for
the first time in February 2005, has been going strong up to today. For this year's
BUF auction, the Simple Sisters decided to host a local harvest dinner. The
dinner would be a showcase of recipes using local, seasonal foods from Whatcom County.
There will also be printed local food information and sample products available. As
the time gets closer, information on this page will be updated. Below in the left
column will be the menu and links to the recipes. In the right column, we will show
you who showed up and what they ate!

The Harvest Dinner was a big hit! About 35 people attended a formal, 5-course dinner put on by BUF's
Simple Sisters as a fundraising event for the church. Nearly all the ingredients used in the various dishes were local products.
