"Focus the Nation On Sustainability Week" Whatcom Community College and Western Washington University will participate in the nationwide celebration Focus the Nation Week, an unprecedented teach-in on global warming solutions and sustainability. Numerous events have been scheduled for the week of January 28th through February 1st, including educational and awareness raising presentations, a film festival, an interactive webcast, and a speech and Q&A session by newly elected Mayor, Dan Pike. All events are open and free to the public. Focus the Nation is a national teach-in engaging millions of students and citizens with political leaders and decision makers about Global Warming Solutions. More than just that one day, Focus the Nation: Global Warming Solutions for America is an extraordinary educational initiative, involving over a thousand colleges, universities, high schools, middle schools, faith groups, civic organizations and businesses. Focus the Nation is a catalyzing force helping shift the national conversation about global warming towards a determination to face this challenge. January 10: Toward Zero Waste workshop Join a leadership group of local Zero Waste pioneers including Ryzex, Samuel's Furniture and La Fiamma Pizza/Fiamma Burger -- who assert that achieving the first 80% of waste reduction in your business can be simple AND profitable -- for a 'how to' workshop that will provide you with tested tools and specific tips to cut bottom line costs AND your impact on the environment. Linda is Past-President of the International Association for Research and Regression Therapies (IARRT) and is certified as a Past Life Therapist by the International Board for Regression Therapy (IBRT). A student and teacher of multi-cultural shamanic practices, Linda has traveled extensively to participate in the healing methods of North and South American shaman. . At WESTERN WASHINGTON UNIVERSITY we, in cooperation with the WESTERN WASHINGTON UNIVERSITY Office of Sustainability and WESTERN WASHINGTON UNIVERSITY WashPIRG, have asked as many professors as we could to participate. In doing so, we asked them to give a 10 minute presentation on how their area of study is affected by global climate change. This presentation would be followed by questions from the students and regularly scheduled class.
