The event will benefit Nooksack Salmon Enhancement Association and will feature a powerpoint of Ray's quirky, fishy art. With more than 2 million T-shirts sold, Alaskan artist Ray Troll puts his classics on display in this collection of his greatest hits. Troll has developed a huge cult following for his humorous and scientifically accurate paintings of fish and fossils. He has successfully carved out his own category of artwork -- colorful pen and ink drawings about fish, fish worship, evolution, paleontology, and dinosaurs -- all humorously captioned and technically accurate. Over a three-decade career, he has exhibited in all major scientific museums in America and managed to sell more than 2 million T-shirts along the way. This collection of the artist's most popular T-shirt art features captions such as "Spawn Till You Die," "Cowasockeye," "The Baitful Dead," "Fish Worship: Is It Wrong," and "Tortured Sole." Fasenfest takes up the banner of progressive homemaking and urban farming as a way to confront the political, social, and environmental issues facing the world. Set amidst the natural beauty of the Santa Lucia Mountains, their conversations - harnessing their ideas of all that is wild, sacred, and intimate in this world - move from the admission that Snyder's mother was a devout atheist to his personal accounts of his initiation into Zen Buddhist culture, being literally dangled by the ankles over a cliff. After years of living in Japan, Snyder returns to the States to build a farmhouse in the remote foothills of the Sierras, a homestead he calls Kitkitdizze. For all of the depth in these conversations, Harrison and Snyder are humorous and friendly, and with the artfully interspersed dialogue from old friends and loves, the discussion reaches a level of not only the personal, but the global, redefining our idea of the Beat Generation and challenging the future directions of the environmental movement and its association with "Deep Ecology." The Practice of the Wild video is a companion to the new book, The Etiquette of Freedom, and together they offer a rare glimpse of these iconic writers and their extended discussion of life and what it means to be wild and alive. Snyder and Harrison WILL NOT attend.
