UU Solidarity Initiative
Members and friends of BUF:
The various organizations who are involved with the different aspects and issue of immigration have created the UU Solidarity Initiative. Under this initiative we’re hoping to inform, education, organize and mobilize more UUs to cope with the immigration crisis that is throttling our communities and countries right now.
The Social and Environmental Justice Committee has an Immigrant Rights team that could use some folks interested and willing to engage on immigrant rights issues locally. This could extend to regionally and nationally for a real go-getter.
Contact Deb Cruz at dwcruz@comcast.net if you’re willing to find out what this team could be and will be to BUF and the greater community. In the mean time, here are some actions to take under the UU Solidarity Initiative.
From the UU Solidarity Initiative:
We are positioning for a shutdown fight specifically on DHS and the activity of ICE and CBP later this week, and because of your enthusiastic participation, the UU Solidarity Initiative invites you to double our collective impact with a second National Week of Action! Once again, we will have a live virtual action hour each day, in addition to an additional 50 hours of phone blitz calling! Yesterday we kicked off the week with The Gathering’s stories of local work against ICE, today UUs for Social Justice is holding an action hour.
Join us to keep the pressure on Congress to reject ICE funding, extend Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Haiti, and more. The Thursday and Friday Action Hours will feature a special musical performance from Emma’s Revolution! Come to a few of these events or, better yet, come to them all!

The work you are doing is critical, timely, and needed. We are bringing our UU capacity together from across the UU ecosystem in a multi-level effort - individuals, congregations, state action networks, national organizations. We’re glad to be in it together! With this in mind, you have been added to the Solidarity Initiative’s e-list so you can continue to receive important updates and calls to action. If you don’t wish to receive these emails, you can unsubscribe by clicking the unsubscribe link at the bottom of this email (but we hope you’ll stay!).
And here’s what we need you to do next:
Share this email with people in your congregation and networks. If you are a Call Blitz leader, please send this to everyone who made calls (or will make calls this week).
Sign up to join us at the Action Hours this week.
Register for the next Solidarity Session on February 20 at 2pm ET. (These will now be held on the 1st and 3rd Friday of the month.)
Thank you so much for living our faith,
The UU Solidarity Initiative
