Our Whole Lives

Honest, accurate information about sexuality changes lives. It dismantles stereotypes and assumptions, builds self-acceptance and self-esteem, fosters healthy relationships, improves decision making, and has the potential to save lives.

OWL Sexuality Education is offered at six levels based on development appropriateness:

K-1st Grade

This session supports parents in educating children about birth, babies, bodies and families, engaging children with stories, songs, and activities.

4-6th Grade

In this session, kids learn about and discuss the physical and emotional changes of puberty. Participants will read It’s Perfectly Normal by Robie H. Harris, and will examine topics such as values and sexuality, community, and decision-making.

7-9th Grade

This curriculum models and teaches caring, compassion, respect, and justice. This is a holistic program that moves beyond the intellect to address the attitudes, values, and feelings that youth have about themselves and the world.

10-12th Grade

Using a comprehensive approach, this program helps senior-high youth gain the knowledge, life principles, and skills they need to express their sexuality in life-enhancing ways.

Young Adult

Helps participants navigate young adulthood with accurate information, increased self-knowledge, enhanced safety, and strengthened interpersonal skills.

Adult

Using values, communication skills and spirituality as starting points, this program explores sexuality issues for adults of all ages. Builds understanding of healthy sexual relationships, affirms diversity, and helps participants accept and affirm their own sexuality throughout their lives.

OWL Volunteers

BUF receives frequent inquiries from inside and outside our community about offering Our Whole Lives, our award winning Lifespan Sexuality Education classes. These classes are more important now than ever. BUF would like to offer the new, updated OWL program for 7-9th and 10-12th graders, but we need help! We are looking for a volunteer OWL coordinator and facilitators. Facilitators must be 21 years of age or older and have completed facilitator training. They will also have a background check through our office. Please fill out the form below if you are interested in helping out as a coordinator or a facilitator. BUF may cover online training fees.
