Humanitas
Humanitas (Latin for “humanity”) is a deeply spiritual ministry.
We are actively engaged in fulfilling the first line of BUF’s Covenant:
Love is the spirit of this fellowship, and service gives it life.
Humanitas is a weekly assistance program within the Alms Network, providing outreach to our neighbors who are struggling to rebuild lives turned upside down. Unfortunate decisions or circumstances beyond their control render people helpless and hopeless. The need to provide help and restore hope is great and continues to grow. The Humanitas Team provides support to local people through radical listening and offering limited emergency financial assistance in a safe, warm and non-judgmental atmosphere. Financial assistance is made possible through contributions from BUF members.
Guests in need of assistance may apply in person at BUF on Wednesdays, from 10 to 11 a.m., at 1207 Ellsworth St. via the side door on “I” Street. Please arrive promptly at 10 and bring some form of identification.
