Celebrate Queer Youth: Join UPLIFT for the 2026 Youth PRIDE Parade and Festival: Saturday, May 30, 10:45 AM

Join UPLIFT for the 2026 Youth PRIDE Parade and Festival - an opportunity for LGBTQIA+ youth to march in a parade while we the community cheer them on! The parade culminates in a festival at Bellingham High School, where there will be music and performances, makers space, a youth art market, and food trucks for lunch. Help support a very underserved part of our community! (We have a block reserved along the parade route. We’re located on the south side of Flora St, just east of where it intersects with N. Commercial St. On the map, below, we’re block 13.) For more information, contact uplift@buf.org.

Join the Hospitality Committee

Are you passionate about making everyone feel at home in our church family? We're looking for friendly faces to join our Hospitality Committee.
What you'll do:

  • Be part of creating BUF's beloved community

  • Help in organizing special events and fellowship activities such as after-service potlucks, building tours, socials, Pathways to membership classes and more

  • Work together on how to help newcomers feel welcomed and valued

  • Serve as a Greeter or Usher, if you wish

Time commitment: a few hours a month, including a meeting at BUF.

Donation Seekers for BUF Fundraiser Action Team

Wasn't it great to see so many donations from local businesses in last year's BUF Auction? That won't happen this year without your help! We are in need of a few Donations Volunteers who can call or visit local businesses this summer. To make it as easy and straightforward as possible, you'll be given a script, a printed letter to deliver, and our list of past donors. Whether you commit to approaching 3 businesses or 30, we'll be so grateful to have your help.

Volunteers and Items (warm socks, gloves, hats) for C.A.S.T.

CAST donations are always needed for our unhoused community: warm socks, gloves, hats can be put in the CAST box in the BUF coat closet. 

A team of 50 volunteers serve sandwiches and other food items, four nights a week downtown by the library. At least six BUF members are regular volunteers. If interested in joining the team contact volunteer@buf.org or talk to Judy F., Beth F., Constance O., Henry O, Ann S., or Linda T.

Community Night Dinner Volunteers

There are many ways to help support Community Night Dinner. Sign up to help chop the vegetables and prepare the dinner, help with setup, help reset the Social Hall, or just come eat the soup. Help once, or help on a regular basis; it is totally up to you! Last CND June 10.

  • By providing and supporting leadership, and by working in collaboration with other organizations of similar vision, we strive to connect and nurture all LGBTQ+ individuals, communities, groups, and their allies. We work closely with Whatcom PFLAG and every year engage BUF and our greater community in PRIDE events as well as offering educational opportunities exploring justice challenges of the LGBTQ+ community.
